Mackenzie Community Arts Council

The Mackenzie Community Arts Council/Centre (MCAC) is regarded as a beacon in the community as it creates financial and social opportunities for community members. The organization established in 1974 as a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in Mackenzie is a member of the Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Federation of Artists and the British Columbia Arts Council. The Mackenzie Community Arts Council Board of Directors governs the organization. Funding is based primarily on grants from local and provincial organization. The MCAC Mission is “To develop, provide and support artistic programming and cultural activities for the community” and Vision “To be recognized for building the community through the arts, bringing people together to share experiences that inspire creative exchange of ideas and improves the quality of life, while developing, nurturing and celebrating the art forms through continuous educational programs, exhibitions and events”. MCAC facilitates multigenerational programming including fine, visual, graphic and performing arts. Notable Expressions Gifts and Gallery offers a wide variety of products including pottery, photography, paintings, postcards, crochet and quiltworks as well as stained glass. All proceeds support the artisans through commission, mentorships and community bursaries to encourage lifelong learning through the arts.
