MACKENZIE & DISTRICT MUSEUM—Take a step back in time and acquaint yourself with local historical information, paintings from local artist Marge McDougall, photos, books, newspapers and exhibits.

MACKENZIE ARTS CENTRE –Centrally located and within walking distance of all amenities, there is something for everyone. Discover the art gallery, children’s workshops, adult workshops, artist guild, painting classes, gift store and mosaic club. Our gallery, features a new artist every month. The artist welcomes you opening nights on the first Wednesday of every month from 7:30 –9:00pm.

MCLEOD LAKE—A short drive from Mackenzie you will find McLeod Lake, home of the McLeod Lake Indian Band. The community is rich in history and culture and is home to the McLeod’s Lake Post Historic site.

ALEXANDER MACKENZIE’S LANDING– Visit the memorial landing site on Williston Lake named for the famous explorer, Alexander Mackenzie. The site, called Alexander Mackenzie’s Landing's located 5 miles (8km) out of town on the Parsnip West Forest Service Road.

BIKING - Mackenzie’s newly developed trail network system provides hours of fun and technical terrain features for mountain bike enthusiasts. Start your ride off at the Mountain Bike Skills Park at Little Mac Ski Hill and connect to John Dahl Park and Morfee Lakeshore Trail systems.

BOATING - Boating enthusiasts will have a great time exploring the different waterways around Mackenzie. Popular lakes include Morfee Lake, Tudyah Lake and McLeod Lake. Jet boats have the ability to access the Parsnip and Pack Rivers which will provide days of enjoyment. Williston Lake is accessible to boaters (not suitable for luxury crafts), but use extreme caution as sudden strong winds can create high waves. As well, snags and stumps may lie just below the water surface. 

CAMPING - Mackenzie is surrounded by a variety of Provincial, Forestry Recreation and Municipal campsites. These range from rustic sites to developed full service campsites. Most of the provincial and recreation campsites are located on or near lakes and provide the opportunity to boat, fish and hike.

CANOEING - Get back to nature and explore the Dina Lake canoe circuit at Heather-Dina Lakes Provincial Park, located 25km and 31 km on the Parsnip West Forest Service Road. The canoe circuit consists of five small lakes con- nected by portage trails and takes approximately four to five hours to complete. This is a popular spot to view loons, bald eagles and wildlife.

FISHING - Opportunities are endless with numerous lakes, streams and rivers in the area. Some of the species include rainbow and lake trout, mountain and lake whitefish, grayling and dolly varden (bull trout). Nearby lakes are Morfee, Williston, Gantahaz, Heather-Dina Lakes, McLeod, Tudyah and Carp Lake. Make sure you carry a valid fishing license and are aware of daily quotas and closures. 

HIKING - Many of the new biking trails are also suitable for hiking and are located within town. Also, try the hick around Gantahaz Lake or if your a little more adventurous, head out to Bijoux Falls or Mount Murray, both located in the Pine Pass. 

MORFEE LAKE - Head out to First Beach (non-motorized part of lake) which offers swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and a sandy beach with fire pits and volleyball nets. Have a boat? Second Beach (motorized part of the lake) has a boat launch where you can spend the day boating, fishing, waterskiing, tubing or just relaxing. 

MORFEE MOUNTAIN - Drive, bike or hike your way to the top of Morfee Mountain and get a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains, landscape and town of Mackenzie. The gravel road is not suitable for motor homes. 

MUGAHA MARSH - A great place to view a wide variety of bird and wildlife species. Mackenzie Nature Observatory operates a bird migration monitoring program at the banding station located on site from late July to late September. There is also a nature trail that takes you to Tutu Bay.
